Arizona Grinding Co. can sharpen shear blades up to 11 feet long and keep the tolerances on the width and thickness parallel to within .002” from end to end. This will allow the knives to maintain the same high productivity and clean cuts that a new knife would have.

Types of Steel

D-2 12% chrome – Hardness is 59-60 HRc

Alloy tool steel containing sufficient amounts of chromium to provide excellent wear resistance on light gauge shearing. This wear resistant tool steel is designed for shearing no more than 3/8” thick mild steel on hydraulic shears. When using D-2 12% chrome on mechanically controlled shears, the maximum shearing capacity is no more than ¼” thick mild steel. It is always recommended that you shear no more than 50% of the machine’s rated capacity when shearing stainless steel.

Shock Resistant – Hardness 55-56 HRc

 

Alloy tool steel which provides the highest degree of toughness, recommended for shearing of mild steel 3/8” and thicker. This durable shock resistant material has increased wearability and is designed for use when shearing heavier gauge material. It is always recommended that you shear no more than 50% of the machine’s rated capacity when shearing stainless steel.
